Nice to meet you!
Thanks for stopping by
Welcome to the Winning At Life Blog! We are Megan and Blaine Beck. We are thirty- something- year-olds trying to win at this thing called “life” while balancing busy schedules, kids, jobs, entrepreneurial aspirations and big dreams. We work hard and are making a serious effort to "win at life" in all aspects.
After being told by friends that we would make a great reality TV couple with our quirks and oddities (that seemed like a lot of work), we decided to jump into blogging. Our dream is to create a community where we can share our ideas, dreams and lessons learned while the strive to survive and thrive.
Topics that we will cover include entrepreneurship, personal finance, family life, and relationships and other random thoughts.

Meet Blaine, by Megan
Blaine is a born hustler. He has dabbled in a variety of small entrepreneurial endeavors, worked his way through college, has spent a decade in corporate America and is always dreaming up the next big idea.
He started a DJ business at the age of 17 that allowed him to pay for his college at a private university in full. The DJ business spun into several other side hustles including a photo booth, wedding officiant services and a short- lived chair cover rental business. He performed at hundreds of weddings, school dances and other school events over a period of about 13 years. While it was a lot of work to DJ events in addition to working nearly full time since he was 18, he loved the perks of being financially independent and the ability to run his own business.
He is into personal finance and is an avid listener of podcasts, reader of blogs and is into maximizing life wherever possible. For someone who is among the least gifted athletically, he is very competitive and motivated. He admires the braveness and tenacity of entrepreneurs and people of all types that are thriving and living their best life.
He dabbles in real estate investing and takes pride in our two rental properties, including a townhome and short-term rental in the Palm Springs area of California. His day job is working for an insurance company - he has been in his industry for 10 years. He currently works in sales, but previously worked in management, account management and a support role. (He actually used to work for the same organization as me, but quit when they started paying me more than him...but that is a story for another day!).
He likes to pretend that his life is a VH1 Behind the Music success story having been born in a trailer park and now trying perfect his strategy of winning at life.

Meet Megan, by Blaine
Megan works in communications and has worked at a municipal government for more than 10 years. She began working for her employer as an intern after graduating from college in December 2011. She then began a full-time position at the same organization in the fall of 2012. Some of her tasks include managing the organization's website and social media accounts, graphic design, public relations and community engagement with residents.
She is a passionate contributor to her employer and community. Her unique position gives her a very broad knowledge on many unique facets of the community and government in general. She is dedicated, creative and has a high bar set for herself. She tries her best to balance the rewarding yet challenging task of being a working mother.
She is totally type A, is an obsessive planner, takes pride in running our household, the best Mom ever and can't help but re-fold every item of laundry that I put away. Megan is the sports fan in the relationship and does fantasy football with my old college roommates. She is an excellent cook and you will have to check out some of her vegetarian recipes that she shares on the blog!
Let’s Do This!
Megan and Blaine have been together since high school and have somehow found a way to make things work and appreciate each other more every day. They are a true team and have made their top priorities in life to be the best parents possible for their three children (ages 7, 4 and 2), enjoy life, make an impact professionally and to overall be good humans .
They realize they are privileged and sometimes idiotic people, but they try to be the best residents of this planet possible while living their very best life in every way. The balance of raising children, working busy jobs, side hustles and trying to thrive is freaking hard, and it’s not always pretty, but hey it’s worth it!
Come along with us as we learn, have fun and help each other live our "win at life."
